Marking Criteria

This section outlines the official assessment criteria established by the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) program and demonstrates how we systematically integrate these standards into our evaluation framework.

Knowledge (K)

This assesses students' grasp of fundamental concepts, terminology, and factual information within a subject. 

Application (A)

This measures students' ability to use their knowledge in practical situations, solving problems or completing tasks that require the implementation of learned concepts.

Thinking (T)

This assesses focuses on higher-order cognitive skills, including critical analysis, problem-solving, and the ability to draw logical conclusions.

Communication (C)

This evaluates the clarity, organization, and effectiveness of students' written and oral expression.
